Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation (KSCADC) through Kerala state government’s Integrated Coastal Area Development Programme, is setting up second solar-powered fish drying unit at Puthan Kadappuram. The unit will have a processing room for cutting and cleaning the fish, a dryer room and a packaging facility within an area spread over 139.05 sq.m. Approximate cost of the project is around Rs.63 lakhs. The KSCADC has earmarked a total of Rs. 1.23 crore for setting up two solar fish drying units in the state. The construction of a drying unit at Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram has been completed.
