To provide training in value addition of milk, and preparation of milk products, a new dairy plant has inaugurated at the Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal. It is funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, under the National Agriculture Development Programme. The plant has a bovine infertility diagnostic and training centre, an avian molecular laboratory, a frozen semen bank, and also a student’s day centre. Approximate cost of the project is around Rs.2 crores.
