The National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) is planning a 4000-MW thermal power plant at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district of Telangana. It will set up two plants comprising two units of 800-MW each in the first and eight units of 300-MW capacity each in the second at Ramagundam as part of the 4,000-MW project. Environmental clearance has already been secured for the first-phase of 1,600-MW plant and tenders have also been called for it. The proposal to set up 2,400-MW plant in the second-phase is likely to be taken up by the Executive Board of NTPC soon.
