[sociallocker]NMDC proposes an expansion of the Bailadila iron ore project, Deposit No. 14/11C from 12.0 MTPA to 20.0 MTPA run-off mine at Kirandul, South Bastar Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 15,218.2 million. The current status of the project could not be ascertained. According to MoEF sources, open cast mining mechanized method is being used. The existing iron ore project includes mining, crushing, screening and loading activities. The total ML area is 935.522 hectares that comprises of Deposit 14, Deposit 14NMZ and part of Deposit 11 ML areas. The expansion will entail (1) Increasing number of HEM machinery. (2) New crushing plant and downhill conveyor system of 10 MTPA capacity each for Bailadila Deposit- 14 and 11C Mines. (3) Refurbishment of Screening Plant-1 and associated works for handling up to 7 MTPA. (4) Construction of 5th line in Screening Plant-2 & drive up-gradation of Conv. 310 for handling up to 10 MTPA. (5) New railway yard enabling Merry-Go-Round (MGR) system for improvement in handling more rail traffic. (6) Up-gradation of existing downhill conveyor braking & control system of Dep. 11C for handling up to 9 MTPA. (7) Enhancement of capacity of Screening Plant–3 and other facilities/ systems. Any power supply demand shall be met from CSEB. About 27 months shall be required for construction of new crushing plants and addition and modification facilities in screening plants.[/sociallocker]
