Airports Authority of India is planning to construct a Greenfield airport at Village Bhogapuram, dist. Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to span over 5,000 acres. The project is expected to be constructed in PPP mode and the RFP could be issued by March 2016. The site clearance for the airport was given on 28th December, 2015. The Civil Aviation Ministry has given clearance for the airport. The Ministry has also given clearance to three other greenfield airports, namely, the Rs. 13,780 million international airport at Dholera, dist. Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and two other no-frills airports, one each in dist. Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore and in dist. Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh under PPP mode. The RFPs for the no-frills airports are expected to be issued in a few weeks. The completion of each of these airports could take up to 6 years.
