Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) has invited expressions of interest for the construction of a 20-MW photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected power plant at the town of Kom Ombo in Aswan governorate, Egypt on 13th November, 2016. The project is financed by the French Development Agency (AFD). Interested “experienced” engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies can make submissions by 15th December, 2016. The plant will be expected to start commercial operations in the second quarter of 2018. By the end of 2016, NREA will launch four tenders for the installation of 80 MW of solar power plants, of 20 MW each.
