Indian Oil Corporation proposes an expansion of its POL storage capacity at Sangrur Terminal, Jind Road, dist. Sangrur, Punjab. The current status of the project could not be ascertained. According to MoEF sources, Anacon Laboratories is the environmental consultant. The estimated cost of the expansion is Rs. 1.08 billion. This is petroleum product storage capacity enhancement project at existing Sangrur petroleum terminal. The present storage capacity of the POT is 82,515 KL. After enhancement, the total capacity of the POT will be 199,725 KL. At present IOCL Sangrur terminal is handling petroleum products such as MS, SKO, HSD and ethanol. The expansion will entail construction of tanks of 2×600 KL for ethanol, 4×25,000 KL for HSD, 1×12,000 KL for HSD and 1×4,010 KL for HSD. The terminal is spread over about 103.81 acres of land. Power requirement will be sourced from Punjab State Electricity Corporation. The project completion period is around 1 year.
