The Board of Selectmen on 5th January, 2017 unanimously approved a proposed 8-mile natural gas line extension, moving the item to a public hearing that is scheduled for 19th January, 2017. According to the proposal, the town will pay $1.87 million of the $5.5 million project. CNG will offset remaining costs through a state program. The extension will provide natural gas to town buildings, Douglas Library, the fire department, the Russell Mercier Senior Center, all schools, and other homes and businesses along the route.
