A Kansas landfill is planning on reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and created a renewable fuel source by constructing a $16 million methane gas plant and pipeline. The landfill has partnered with Renewable Power Producers, North Carolina, to develop the well field, processing plant, pipeline and interstate pipeline interconnect. The pipeline will need to be six miles long to connect the plant to existing networks. The land easement for the pipeline will be 15 feet wide, totaling in about 475,000 square feet of land. Construction of the pipeline is scheduled to begin in six to eight weeks and construction of the processing plant has already started off-site.
