[signinlocker]Lafarge Umiam Mining is planning an expansion of the Nongtrai limestone mining project at Village Nongtrai, dist. East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya from 2 MTPA to 5 MTPA on 100 hectares of existing land. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 1,940 million. The project is waiting for clearance. According to MoEF sources, the type of mining is opencast semi-mechanized. Life time of mine is 28 years. The run-of-the-mine is crushed and transported to a cement plant of LSC located at Chattak in Bangladesh. After expansion, the crushed limestone will be transported through the existing Long Belt Conveyor (LBC), by upgrading it to carry the enhanced capacity through engineering and operational modifications, to the cement plant. A new crusher of 1,500 TPH design capacity will be installed. Power requirement of 4.0 MW will be generated as captive power through 1,250 kVA diesel generators and also from Meghalaya State Electricity Board.[/signinlocker]
