Hindustan Petroleum Corporation proposes construction of additional 5,000 KL MS storage tank at Suryapet Terminal of HPCL, Village Imampet, dist. Nalgonda, Telangana. The current status of the project could not be ascertained. According to Pollution Control Board sources, SGS India, Gurgaon, is the environmental consultant. The company has an existing installation at Suryapet, dist. Nalgonda for the purpose of receipt, storage and dispatch of petroleum products (POL) such as Motor Spirit (MS), High Speed Diesel (HSD) and Superior Kerosene (SKO). The existing Suryapet terminal consists of 6 above ground and 5 underground tanks. The existing terminal has 6 floating roof tanks for storage of MS (2×3,780 kl), HSD (2×18,150 kl), SKO (2×1,500 kl). In order to meet market demands, the company has proposed to install additional tank (above ground floating roof tank). The additional terminal will come up on existing land area of 28.02164 acres, which is under possession. 14.678 acres is allocated for green belt.
