Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) expects the construction of a third unit in Kostolac B coal-fired power plant to start next spring. The construction of the unit is a very complex process consisting of 14 phases, with total investment projected at $715 million. Funds for the project are being provided under a preferential loan from China’s Exim bank backed by guarantees extended by the Serbian government. The 700 MW Kostolac B is part of thermal power and coal mining group TE-KO Kostolac, located on the Danube river, in 50eastern Serbia. TE-KO Kostolac operates another thermal power plant, Kostolac A, with installed capacity of 310 MW.
