Notebook hinge maker Shin Zu Shing (SZS) is planning to expand its MIM (metal injection molding) production capacity by over 30% through procuring two new continuous MIM furnaces, with the additional capacity expected to come into operation in the second half of 2017. Apple has adopted MIM hinges for ultra-thin MacBook Pro notebooks, motivating SZS to expand MIM production capacity. SZS has 33 batch MIM furnaces at present.
